How long have you been a Kundalini Yogi?
I discovered Kundalini yoga in early 2011 and began to attend weekly classes. At the end of the year I moved interstate where there were no Kundalini classes. My former teacher gave me a folder of Kriyas to take with me so I could continue my practice. I am in the process of moving again and I am looking forward to attending classes regularly again.
Why did you first come to a Kundalini Yoga class?
I had been practicing Hatha yoga for many years and when I saw an ad for Kundalini yoga at my local community centre, I was intrigued. After some research I decided to give it a go. I was especially intrigued with Chakras and moving Kundalini energy.
How often do you practice Kundalini Yoga?
I practice Kundalini yoga daily. I love the flexibility that it offers with the different Kriyas and Meditations, your practice can be tailored to the time you have available. I can always find at least 3 minutes in my day to squeeze in a meditation if nothing else.
How has Kundalini Yoga impacted your life?
It has had a profound effect. I have found it to be a lifeline in times of trouble as well as a wonderful accompaniment through good times. It is a very precise practice, each Kriya is designed to achieve a specific outcome. I have used Kundalini yoga in a targeted way over the years to encourage particular outcomes or resolve specific issues in my life. I have always found it to be very effective in providing results. It has helped me to be confident in my decisions, to grow as a person and be comfortable in my own skin. I have also developed acceptance, faith and trust in life and that I am where I am meant to be.
What would you say to someone who hasn’t tried Kundalini Yoga yet?
I would urge them to try a couple of classes and notice the benefits for themselves.
