We look forward to seeing you in our Kundalini Yoga and Meditation classes at KMYOGA Bondi Junction, Sydney. In the meantime here are some frequently asked questions which may be of assistance to you.
Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions T: 02 9389 8343 E: info@kmyoga.com
I have never been to a class before. Where do I start?
All our classes are open to all levels of experience including complete beginners. Click here for information on our styles of yoga.
Is there an age limit for yoga and meditation?
No, KMYOGA offers classes for everyone. Yoga and Meditation practices are meant to be for life and can be modified to suit all ages and levels of strength and fitness.
Can I go to a class if I am pregnant?
You are encouraged to do yoga during Pregnancy for your health and the baby’s health but please let your teacher know so they can modify positions accordingly. Yoga and Meditation are excellent for Pregnancy on physical, emotional and mental levels. It is advised not to practice yoga in the first 6 weeks of your pregnancy.
Can I go to class if I have an injury?
Yes and no! It depends on the nature of your injury. Yoga can be great for rehabilitation from injuries.
We advise you call reception to explain the situation and they will guide you. You must tell the teacher before the class of any injuries so they can help you adjust your practice.
Do I need to book for a class?
No. All our scheduled yoga and meditation classes are drop in, however we recommend booking online to secure your place and arriving 15 minutes before class to sign in. If you do book beforehand then please let reception know that you have arrived.
Do I need to book for a workshop?
Yes, we recommend you book and pay in advance for all workshops as spaces are limited. You can book online, by telephone: 02 9389 8343, or at reception. As of November 1st 2012 the early bird discount will be valid up to one week prior to the event, bookings made after this time will be charged the full price.
Do I need to be a member?
No, you can attend classes by dropping in casually or purchasing a 10 class pass.
We do offer membership cards, which can be very cost effective if you practice yoga and/or meditation more than 2 times a week. We offer a flexible membership at $81.00 per fortnight for unlimited classes, or a 12 month membership at $75 fortnightly (paid monthly) for unlimited classes. Memberships come with added benefits. Speak to reception for more details about our membership options.
Do I need to bring my own mat?
We provide all the equipment, including eco rubber Jade yoga mats you need for our classes at KMYOGA. We regularly clean our mats.
What do I wear?
Some people wear baggy, loose fitting bottoms and a t-shirt. Other people wear tight, stretchy leggings and tops. The only thing that matters is that you wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move and stretch in.
It’s good to have clothes that keep you cool when you are active in asanas, but bring a jumper for relaxation. We provide organic cotton blankets but some people feel the cold and like to bring extra clothing like socks for the relaxation phase.
Why do some people where white to Kundalini Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga classes are often known because some students choose to wear white. This is because it is believed that the colour white contains and holds onto positive energy. During Kundalini Yoga we cultivate lots of energy and rather than letting it go, wearing white will keep it within us!
What if I am late for a class?
Ideally we recommend that you arrive 15 minutes before your class, but we know, life happens, so we try to be flexible. If you are one minute late we will still let you in but please be aware that lateness to a class disrupts the teacher and students so please be considerate.
Generally five minutes late is fine, but ultimately the teacher decides.
Do you have changing facilities and showers?
Yes, we have men’s and women’s bathrooms on the first level that provide enough room to change in. There is also a spacious unisex shower room on the same level. You do need to bring your own towel.
Do you have lockers?
We do not have lockers, however we do have a shelf storage in the cupboard at the back of the yoga room, where we recommend storing bags and valuables.
Can I eat before a yoga class?
Find out what works for you but in general we do not recommend eating a large meal within 2 hours of class. If you must eat within 2 hours of a class then a light meal or snack that is easily digested is best. If you’ve come straight from work and feel you need an energy booster you may purchase coconut water. We serve chai after class.
Can I park my car at KMYOGA?
Sadly no, there is no KMYOGA private parking. Please see below for information on parking.
